This short post is an explanation of what I mean when I put a certain word, or several words, in a [bracket commonly called a "square bracket"].( Something else is such a bracket - {*}.) First of all, it is not parenthetical in the sense of excluding it from the body of the sentence, because it is still as much a part of the sentence and even more. Nor is it an emphasis on the importance of the text, as in the case of underlining, bold, or CAPS LOCKs{**}, which I use interchangeably, depending on what I actually find more fitting to draw the reader's attention to that content, or sometimes combined when the text, in my opinion, needs a special, or even MORE, emphasis.
{*This type of bracket "with an asterisk", on the other hand, is used to separately explain/describe a particular word or phrase in more detail below a paragraph, when a simple bracket itself would be unnecessary, or too much of a burden for the paragraph}.
{**About underlining and bold, forgive me, but I wouldn't even be able to fully define the difference between one and the other myself.... Generally, when I use these text highlights separately, I tend to use underlining for longer pieces of text and bold for shorter ones, but it's not really such a rigid rule either.... It's more by feeling.… CAPS LOCKS, on the other hand, are already more distinct and can be precisely defined, because it is a kind of PERMANENT EXPRESSION and this highlighting of the text I use more to express my emotions about it, rather than to emphasize the substantive importance of the text}.
Whereas [brackets] are such a kind of [reference point] in a sentence or paragraph. So here it's not so much about the validity of the text itself taken in a bracket, but that the content placed there acts as a kind of [key] that points to [words that have a particular meaning] in the context of a sentence, or an entire paragraph. (I hope I've explained this sufficiently to you).
